Actor-comedian Richard Dawson, best known as the host of the FAMILY FEUD, has died at the age of 79.The British-born TV host died on Saturday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center from complications due to esophageal cancer, his son Gary Dawson said, reported Ace Showbiz.
"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was an amazing talent, a loving husband, a great dad, and a doting grandfather. He will be missed but always remembered," Gary said in a statement.
Dawson had gained fame as the fast-talking Cpl. Peter Newkirk on HOGAN'S HEROES.
Dawson won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1978 as best game show host.
